The Eagle Has Landed” is a World War II film based on Jack Higgins’s novel.
In the movie, a Nazi officer named Max Radl (played by Robert Duvall) devises a plan to kidnap or kill the British Prime Minister.
The scheme moves forward with Colonel Kurt Steiner (Michael Caine) leading the mission, aided by Liam Devlin (Donald Sutherland), an Irishman with a deep hatred of England.
While the plot may be hardly plausible, it’s entertaining to see so many acting favorites, including Robert Duvall, Larry Hagman, Jenny Agutter, and Donald Pleasence as Himmler.

Director John Sturges lent a sturdy complexion to this adaptation, despite its preposterous premise.
Michael Caine’s portrayal of a Nazi officer who questions the killing of Jews adds an intriguing twist. The film’s tone, witty dialogue, action and memorable performances make it a minor classic.
